About NDS
The NDS National Drift Series was formulated in 2006. Since then we’ve mostly had small events with Demonstrations at the Wesbank Super Series and a collection of practice runs until 2008. In 2008 our event in Cape Town drew in nearly 2500 spectators and the second coastal event, in Port Elizabeth, saw 8000 spectators pass through the gates.
With a growing demand for a structured platform to expose the public to the sport of Drifting in South Africa, NDS National Drift Series was formed.
NDS strives to support the sport the growing drift community (drivers, tuners and suppliers) whilst simultaneously providing unique entertainment to the first time spectators and loyal fans alike.
Having NDS members attend a D1 Grand Prix in 2005 and the World Drift Summit Conference in Japan 2008 (hosted by 2006 D1 Grand Prix World Champion Nobushige Kumakubo) has resulted in NDS being the only African Drift Series recognized by the highly influential Japanese drifting community.
NDS enjoys excellent relations with the foremost drift exponents in the land of sport’s birth, Japan. This uniquely positions the organisation to continuously be on the pulse of cutting edge developments in the organisational, judging, technical and driving aspects of drifting.
Drifting has raced around the globe as the fastest growing motorsport of the 21st century.
NDS aims to ensure this momentum finds its way locally too by blending professionalism and dedication to provide a unique motorsport experience for competitors, fans and other partners.
